The Journey Essential Facts
  • Started Saturday 20th June 2009 - completed 7th July 2009
  • 1028 miles – 17 days cycling
  • Stopped regularly for snacks and drinks.
  • Always hungry so food tasted lush
  • Ate loads of pork pies, sausage rolls and pasties – something we would not normally have on a regular basis
  • Geoff did all the cooking and washing up
  • David was campsite co-ordinator
  • Had a bruised big toe the whole trip. Didn’t realise I cycle with my right big toe pressed down.
  • Scotland or Devon most difficult?... Devon shorter, but steeper and winding hills. Scotland, much longer hills but easier to cycle up… Jury still out – both difficult in different ways
  • Did you know its lighter in Scotland??
  • Lynne's bike weight: 2st 5 1/2 lbs
  • Geoff's bike weight: 2st 6 lbs
  • Total weight of panniers and other attachments 4 stone 3lbs
